Wisdom teeth will usually appear in our mouths between the ages of 17 and 25, so most of us never have to worry about having wisdom teeth removed until early adulthood.

The real question is not at which age to get your wisdom teeth removed, but when to act on potential issues.

Some People Are Just Lucky

Some people are just plain lucky, there’s not much they can do to change it. There are some people who go their entire lives without ever having to get their wisdom teeth removed. They are the lucky ones!

And really, if there is no need to get your wisdom teeth removed, then we say don’t do it at all! If you can go your whole life without having to getting any oral surgery, even better!

Wait to Get Your Wisdom Teeth Removed

After a dental exam in Delray Beach you may be told you have wisdom teeth coming in, or that your wisdom teeth are fine but may require removal at a later time. So you can just wait to get them removed right?

Yes, you can wait! BUT, the risk is that you might be waiting for an impacted tooth or worse. That’s why we recommend our patients act first. Get your wisdom teeth removed before it’s a problem. If you ask anyone who has had an impacted wisdom tooth, they will tell you how painful it can be.

Act First

It’s best to follow the advice of your dentist. Though wisdom teeth that have “come in” may seem to be stable, they are usually more susceptible to long term issues including breaking, chipping and decay because of hard to reach areas.

If you have all four wisdom teeth in varying stages of breach or “coming in”, then it makes sense to get them all removed at the same time.
