We live in an age of perfection, one of selfies and online photo albums, a time when the way we look is so important. A lot of us feel the need to maintain a perfect appearance all the time, and sometimes we have to take shortcuts to look our best. With that in mind, Designer Family Dental has this shortcut you can use to quickly whiten your teeth.

If you have headshots or a campaign to shoot in the next 24 hours, or if you are going to a wedding, or if you have to take graduation pictures, these tips to quickly whiten your teeth will help! This is the real way to whiten your teeth, no photoshop required!

Before We Get Started – Remember This!

Do not brush your teeth too much. You’ll be tempted to brush more and brush harder, but that will strip away your enamel which reveals the yellow underneath your teeth. It’s counterproductive and won’t help you whiten your teeth quickly.

Avoid all dark foods and drinks that will stain your teeth until AFTER the photoshoot or event. These include:

  • Wine
  • Black and Green Tea
  • Coffee (we know this one will be tough)
  • Sugar (including soda)
  • Blackberries and Blueberries
  • Vinegar
  • Curry

If you feel prolonged or intense pain when using any teeth whitening products containing peroxide, you likely have a cavity and you should seek the help of a pain free dentist.

Charcoal

Charcoal is a natural way to quickly whiten your teeth. But not the charcoal you use for the grill, you can swing by your local supermarket, or Whole Foods to pick up charcoal capsules.

You can empty the capsules onto your toothbrush and brush for five minutes. Your mouth will look scary black, but it will rinse off and leave your teeth whiter in a few minutes.

Baking Soda

Mix your toothpaste with baking soda to get the best results and to quickly whiten your teeth. Though this is a method to whiten your teeth overnight, it can be potentially damaging as well. Baking soda is abrasive, and it will damage your enamel.

Teeth Whitening Strips & Gel Trays

Yes, whitening strips do work to whiten your teeth. When in doubt, turn to hydrogen peroxide. You can pick up some whitening strips at the store. Do not over do it because these strips can damage your teeth as well. If you really need the help, use Crest 3D White Luxe Supreme FlexFit Whitestrips, $64.99.

Gel Trays are another way to quickly whiten your teeth. Opalescence PF 35% Whitening Gel is by far the best whitening gel on the market, but it’s not cheap AND you’ll have to make custom teeth trays BEFORE you can start your at-home whitening treatment. You can order your custom dental trays on Amazon, allowing you to whiten your teeth overnight.

Instant Teeth Whitening Pen

This is the quickest way to whiten teeth instantly. You are effectively painting your peroxide directly onto your teeth.

Lipstick

Ladies get the benefit here, sorry fellas! If you are doing headshots, wedding pictures, or graduation pictures and you can pick your own lipstick, then choose a shade that makes your lips stand out. Use BLUE-BASED lipsticks to highlight the whites in your teeth, especially on camera. Avoid ORANGE-BASED lipsticks which will highlight the yellow in your teeth.

For Models, unfortunately, if you are part of a campaign or booked a gig with a stylist, you might not have much of a choice when it comes to your lipstick.

When all else fails, remember you can also have your dentist whiten your teeth. Happy smiling!
